(ASUS) is proud to announce winning the 2005 BusinessWeek Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) for its SDRW-0804P-D external slim DVD ± R/RW drive and VENTO 3600 Desktop chassis. The event evaluates industrial design excellence in five criteria: innovation, aesthetics, user benefits, ecological responsibility and business improvements. The SDRW-0804P-D employs innovative technologies to provide leading-edge data storage capabilities. Weighing at a nimble 350g, it stands out in the crowd of today's generic external DVD burners with a tailored modern design of simple cuts and colors, ideal for users at the comfort of their homes as well as business travelers on the go. With data storage and duplication being the primary functions, the design takes its cue from a plastic injection mould tool. The mold-like design and details include engraved text and bar code. The aluminum case reinforces the image of a mould and keeps the burner lightweight, durable and suitable for both notebook and desktop users. The case features two contrasting treatments: matte finish casing and diamond-cut hollow where users can place the original or blank DVD while recording to avoid mix-ups and scratched discs. |
